I have had many years of membership in various Chambers of Commerce, and have always found them to be lukewarm at best.

Being a member of the North Durham Chamber of Commerce has been a completely different experience. This is a Chamber that truly cares for and responds to the needs of its members. The networking events are fun and lack the awkwardness of most I’ve been to.

The Executive Director is incredible at advocating for the business community in North Durham. Most importantly, there is a spirit of engagement and collaboration between its members that I’ve never experienced before. I am so proud to be a member of the NDCC.

When I joined the Chamber, I was a brand-new business owner who had a passion for helping others but did not even realize my little therapy office counted as a brick-and-mortar. I walked in feeling excited, overwhelmed, and very much clueless about the world of entrepreneurship. What I found was support, guidance, and a community that made everything feel possible.

The weekly Chamber emails, the gentle check-ins, the reminders to plan, the “don’t forget this event” nudges often arrive exactly when I need them. As a busy business owner, therapist, and mom, those reminders have been lifesavers.

Working with the NDCC this summer gave me real world experience that goes far beyond a typical student job. From my first day I was welcomed and guided every step of the way, which made it easy to contribute and learn.

I attended Chamber events and met local business owners to see where they need support and where they excel. Those experiences gave me a real understanding of how businesses operate behind the scenes—insight I would never have gained without this opportunity.

One of my favorite projects was creating and promoting the new Chamber Flair, which allowed me to combine creativity with practical marketing skills.

Misty and Suzy were outstanding mentors who helped shape me as a young professional. The internship strengthened my time management and professional writing skills, from balancing multiple deadlines to crafting clear emails, and it has prepared me well for university and for future work in the legal field.

Joining the Chamber of Commerce has been one of the most valuable decisions I’ve made for strengthening my presence and connections within the community. From the moment I became a member, I felt welcomed and supported by a network of business owners who genuinely care
